Lancashire Highways Service is responsible for the delivery of Network Management activities across the County. Network Planning consists of three sub teams, these are; Traffic Signals Design, Traffic Signal Maintenance and Cycling and Road Safety. The Traffic Signal Design team have a vacancy for a Traffic Signal Design engineer (Grade 8). 

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate to work within a growing area of the Highways Service. The successful candidate will be involved with the development and approval of traffic signal schemes, network improvements including UTC, SCOOT and MOVA, and the introduction of new technology to the Lancashire network. Whilst it is highly beneficial that candidates have experience of traffic signal design and / or highway design, training will be provided where appropriate and transferrable skills and knowledge will be considered. 

The post is a full time position (37 hours per week), predominantly working out of the Cuerden Offices at Bamber Bridge. You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability. 

The role is not solely office based and site visits are required. It is essential that candidates have a flexible approach to the work base and working hours i.e. occasional out of hours / weekend working may be required to meet service demands.
