About the role

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people who have a disability? We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, flexible people who would enjoy supporting adults with disabilities to live the lives they want.

 The Service supports people with learning and physical disabilities in the Short Breaks Service (respite) over 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The role involves evening and weekend work including sleep-in duties as required.

 The support worker role involves all aspects of daily support, including supporting adults with activities, personal care, medication, and finances. Ensuring people's needs are met in terms of health and positive outcomes. Providing an environment guests feel they have had a Holiday and leave with a smile. The duties are varied, and no two days will be the same. You will be joining a supportive and knowledgeable team that create a fun environment for guests staying with high standards.

Key Accountabilities

To support people with disabilities, including individuals with profound and complex needs, using person centred approaches to enable people to achieve positive outcomes as defined in their support plan.


To support people with dignity and respect in order to meet their day to day needs, including personal care supports.


To support individuals to access a range of opportunities and experiences, either at short breaks or in a community setting, including for example swimming, walking, bowling, dancing, shopping etc.


To work in accordance with relevant national legislation and service specific policies and practice guidelines at all times.


Skills and Experience

Experience of working with adults who have a learning disability is desirable but not essential as you will be given the necessary support and training to undertake this role.


Applicants who do not hold NVQ Level 3 at the time of appointment will be required to complete QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care* within the first 2 years of employment (where applicable).


All new starters will be supported to complete the Care Certificate.

Initial annual leave entitlement is 25 days a year (5 weeks) plus days in lieu for bank holidays. After 5 years of service annual leave entitlement increases to an extra 6 days totalling 31 days.


If the position is part time, please note the salary quoted above is the full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.
