We are recruiting for Highway Designers to play a key role in an exciting programme of major infrastructure development and maintenance work throughout Lancashire.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on the design of a wide range of highway schemes whether it is local safety schemes, junction improvements, public realm upgrades, improved sustainable transport projects or major new link roads.


Some of the schemes we are currently working on or have recently delivered include the construction of Broughton Bypass (James Towers Way), junction improvements along and adjacent to the M65, public realm enhancement in Burnley Town Centre, Accrington Town Centre and Padiham Town Centre. We are currently supervising a £10M plus public realm enhancement scheme in Preston City Centre and are also working up details for our successful £15M Transforming Cities Fund bid. We are developing exciting proposals in a response to create improved cycling and walking infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to work on all stages of a projects, from receipt of brief, concept design, detail design (including conversations with the delivery team to optimise your proposals), through to support during the delivery phase. You will have an opportunity to steer a scheme from beginning to end. You will see a scheme develop from conception to creation.


You will have experience of working to current standards relating to highway and / or drainage design and construction. You will be able use industry standard software to create drawings, schedules, contract documents and similar. Working with colleagues and assisting Senior Engineers, you will play a key role in delivering projects to meet budget and programme.
