Whalley Depot BB7 9RW (but may be required to work at various locations throughout Lancashire)  

 

About the Role

Lancashire Highway Operations is responsible for the direct delivery of all highway related schemes across the County made up of 4,300 miles of road, 151,000 street lights and 2,955 bridges

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic skilled Highways Gully Operative required to be part of a team assisting with the provision of maintenance and construction of roads, footways, drainage systems and associated street scene works within the guidelines of a safe working environment. This will be an opportunity to support the maintenance and enhancement of the highway network and provide long term benefits for residents, visitors and businesses in Lancashire.

 

Specifically the role involves driving and operating a Gully Wagon/Jetting vehicle. Compliance with site plans and health and safety legislation and completing records on hand held IT equipment.  We also require someone who can commit to taking part in out of hours emergency call out and winter maintenance standby. 

 

This role will primarily focus on delivering the authority's revenue works cleaning gullys and drainage systems.  The post holder may be required to work on other aspects of highways schemes as directed.

 

The candidate will hold a current LGV Class 2 driving licence and have significant experience in reactive gully cleaning, jetting of gullies and highway drainage systems, undertaking drainage investigation works including minor CCTV surveys to determine drainage layouts, root cutting of highway drainage infrastructure, completion of appropriate documentation, planning and organising work activities, and supervision of a team of highways operatives when required.

 

As this role involves working on the highway network, we also require someone with an awareness of Health and Safety Legislation pertaining to highways maintenance and traffic management.
