The Children with Disabilities Team in North Lancashire are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and ambitious practice manager into our service.  The Children with Disabilities Team rests within the Local Authority structure as part of the Inclusion service, it is not located with CSC counterparts in the North.

The successful applicant will need to have a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience in a mainstream childcare setting or within CWD.  A broad knowledge of all aspects of children's social care procedures will be beneficial as the CWD team manage all aspects of childcare social work including (but not restricted to) :- PLO, CIN, CLA, CP, Care Leavers, Mental Capacity/Deprivation of Liberty.  Experience of working with children with Disabilities is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided.  A passion and commitment to work with this Service User group is essential, along with a focus to advocate on behalf of these children and young people to achieve best outcomes.

Managerial experience would be beneficial, but if you can demonstrate leadership qualities and are committed to advancing onto LCC's leadership training programme, you will still be considered for this post.  You will need to be able to nurture, encourage and occasionally challenge staff towards best practice and ensure that they adhere to LCC policy and procedure, along with statutory guidance.  You will need to be able to supervise staff as well as support newly qualified workers through the ASYE programme.  You will need to have the confidence to chair multiagency meetings and deal with occasional conflict professionally and diplomatically.

You will need to be a QSW and HCPC registered to apply. 

Essential Qualifications:
Professionally qualified/relevant degree (or equivalent), plus substantial experience or substantial vocational experience demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively demanding roles.

HCPC registered qualified social worker

Essential Experience:
Experience of using up to date and authoritative knowledge in a technical/specialist area to support delivery of a complex operation/function/service.
Working in different operational areas or supporting activity across different service.
Experience of providing effective support for operational activity or service undergoing change and challenge.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). You must be registered (HCPC) to be appointed as a Social Worker you must be registered or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted, registration is not required and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.
