The Emergency Duty Team  is looking to recruit a permanent full time Social Worker, with a minimum of 3 years' post qualifying experience in front line childcare, undertaking S47s enquiries.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic team, committed to providing a professional service responding to statutory emergencies and other social work matters within the Childcare and Adult arenas that cannot be safely left until the following working day.

The role entails carrying out an initial assessment of the presenting situation to establish a safe and viable solution until the matter can be picked up by day time services. Support is provided by the duty manager on shift, however the post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise professional judgement in carrying out their duties.

The role of an Emergency Duty Team Social Worker is generic and covers both Children's and Adult's disciplines. Whilst the team are looking for a strong childcare worker at this time, experience of Adult work would also be advantageous. However training will be provided.  

The Emergency Duty Team operates outside of core business hours and provides an Out of Hours service across Lancashire, covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays.  Staff  work to a rolling rota covering a range of shifts, largely based on the 4 days on 4 days off rota principle.  Due to the current Covid pandemic, the team are presently working from home. There are no plans at the immediate time for this to change, however if decisions are made for the team to return to the workplace, this is likely to still include some form of home / agile working. Although the team are currently working from home, applicants applying for the role must be available to undertake visits across the County of Lancashire,  if required, during their shift.

The successful candidate can expect full management and peer support, regular supervision and access to a wide range of training opportunities.

 Out of Hours enhancements will be payable and calculated in accordance with hours worked outside of core business hours.

 The Emergency Duty Team covers the County of Lancashire, with the exception of Blackpool and Blackburn, and is based at Lancashire House, Enterprise Way,  Accrington.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'.

You must be registered (Social Work England) to be appointed as a Social Worker.

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
