Lancashire Hospital Education Services are seeking a part time (4 days Monday to Thursday) Mathematics teacher – Intensive Support Team based at ELCAS, this is part of the East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service (ELCAS), formerly CAMHS.

The Intensive Support Team (IST) Day Unit is located in Burnley General Hospital Area 3 Level 2, BGH, Casterton Avenue, Burnley BB10 2PQ 

 

We are looking for: 

  • An excellent classroom practitioner who is innovative, flexible and passionate about teaching maths to pupils of all abilities
  • A teacher who is pastorally strong and can work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team on the IST Day Unit
  • An individual who is willing to develop the use of ICT to enrich learning
 
 Information: 

The NHS IST provides assessment and diagnosis of the mental health needs of children and young people. The Education Team, as part of the IST, works closely with clinical colleagues and professionals from other agencies, therefore, the ability to work collaboratively is essential.  

 

The Education Team, led by the Teacher in Charge, delivers an in-centre timetable and outreach work to mainly pupils of secondary age studying for GCSEs and a very small number of pupils of primary age. Pupils are of the full ability range and remain on the role of their mainstream school.  

 

The educational provision at the IST is provided by Lancashire Hospital Education Service (LHES).  LHES provide at 3 sites in Lancashire: Burnley General Hospital, Royal Preston Hospital and The Cove (in-patient) at Heysham. 

 

Essential Qualifications: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Honours degree in Maths, or closely related subject, at 2:2 or above

Essential Experience:

  • Teaching GCSE Mathematics
  • Employing a range of effective teaching styles and methodologies to engage, inspire, develop and extend learning
 

Desirable Experience:

Experience of working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties
