Lancashire Highways Service is responsible for the direct delivery of all highway related schemes across the County made up of 4300 miles of road, 151,000 street lights and 2955 bridges.

 

We are looking to recruit a Technical Support Officer to be based within Countywide Highways Services at the Cuerden (Bamber Bridge) or Whalley office but will be currently working agile from home due to COVID restrictions.  

 

The post is 37 hours per week but you will need to be flexible and agile around working hours to ensure the needs of the business are met and be able to travel around to other operational depots when required such as; Wrightington, Singleton, Caton, Burnley and Rossendale.

 

The role is to provide technical support functions to the Highway engineers and managers including:

 
  • Processing of financial information such as; invoices, requisitions and credit memo's.
  • Instruct and verify the work of other technical support functions i.e. waste, plant and job costings in HAM's, Oracle and Documentum, solving issues and reviewing processes and procedures.
  • Verification and correction of data in IT systems such as; HR, creditor payments, job costing, payroll and time recording, materials, overhead, waste, damages, call outs, sub contract and plant.
  • Processing of payroll administrative information, including checking, running and extracting data.
  • Planning and organising of complex work within deadlines.
  • Liaising with members of the public, customers and other LCC colleagues in a prompt and courteous manner in an effort to provide an efficient support service.
  • Technical administrative support for Highway operations and be able to produce work to a good standard.
  • Assisting with processing Service Drawings, HIP's, planning applications, Land Registry searches, Con29's, vehicle crossings, vegetation letters and Highway enquiries/complaints from members of the public.
  • Provide advice, guidance on internal policies, procedures and processes.
    Undertaking other duties as reasonably requested by the Highways Support Manager.

You must also possess the following skills and attributes in order to undertake the role ; excellent people skills, good written and verbal communication skills including dealing with customer highway enquiries, good ICT skills, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work under pressure, have a keen eye for detail and be able to work on your own initiative.
